Maintenance Engineer

About the role
Kubikenborg Aluminium AB is Sweden’s only producer of primary aluminium and one of the largest industrial companies in Sundsvall. The plant was built in 1942 and has a production capacity of 130,000 tonnes of aluminium per year. Our final products, aluminium billets, are delivered to extrusion and rolling mills across Europe. Today, Kubal employs approximately 460 people.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring high operational reliability and availability in our production facilities. You will work both strategically and operationally with improvements, analysis, and planning of maintenance activities. The role involves close collaboration with production teams, operations technicians, mechanics, electricians, and external contractors.
Responsibilities
• Plan, develop and follow up on preventive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance.
• Perform root cause analyses (RCA), FMEA, 5-Why, and other improvement methods.
• Investigate recurring faults and initiate long-term technical solutions.
• Optimize and update maintenance plans and instructions.
• Participate in investment projects and technical improvement initiatives.
• Analyze operational data, KPIs and maintenance statistics to identify improvement areas.
• Ensure that work complies with applicable laws, standards and safety procedures.
• Be responsible for technical documentation and participate in procurement of equipment and services.
• Support and train operators and maintenance personnel on technical matters.
Education / Qualifications
• Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, technical service, or a similar role.
• Experience in troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.
• Experience working with maintenance systems or ERP systems.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and documentation.
• Proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
Meritorious
• Knowledge of Lean, TPM, RCA, FMEA, or similar improvement methodologies.
• Experience from the process industry, manufacturing, or similar environments.
• Maintenance-related certifications.

The position is full-time and daytime. Start date according to agreement.
